Domestic Gas Meter Installer Diploma

 
Course Overview:

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary training, assessment, skills and knowledge for those looking to work within the Domestic Gas Meter Installation Industry.

Who is this training course for?

This programme is ideal for New Entrants who wish to pursue a career in domestic gas meter / smart meter installation.

 
 

Course Duration:

In-house training and assessment can be undertaken at either 4 weeks full time study or 26 weeks part time study. Candidates will also need to provide and on-site evidence portfolio which takes around 6 to 8 weeks.

 
 
Topic Areas Covered:
  • Gas Safety Legislation and Standards.

  • Combustion.

  • Emergency controls and valves.

  • Pipe work.

  • Testing and purging.

  • Checking and setting meter regulators.

  • Ventilation.

  • Chimney Standards.

  • Unsafe situations.

  • Emergency actions and procedures.

  • Meter installation and exchange.

 
 
Training and Assessment methods:

Candidates will be assessed both practically and theoretically throughout the course or courses. All text books to accompany this course are provided.

 
 
Course Achievements:

Successful candidates will be awarded Cert-ain Domestic Gas Meter Installation Diploma certification.

 
 
Progression Routes:

Successful candidates will be able to progress onto the ACS Assessments CMA1 (Core Meter Assessments) and MET1 which on successful completion will allow candidates to register with Gas Safe.

 
 
Additional Information:

Candidates are required to attend our purpose built Gas Training and Assessment Centre and undertake all 'off the job' assessments in accordance with the course criteria. Once you have completed the in-house training sessions, you will also be required to complete the 'on the job' evidence from your placement. When you have collected sufficient 'on the job' evidence, you will be eligible to undertake the initial ACS CMA1. Once the ACS assessments are successfully completed, you will be able to register with Gas Safe or seek employment with a Gas Safe registered company as an operative.
