Level 3 QCF Inspection and Testing

Course Overview:
This regulated QCF qualification is
designed to enhance the knowledge and
skills of candidates in ALL aspects of
testing and inspection of electrical installation systems in the
UK. It combines both the Initial
Verification and Periodic Inspection,
Testing and Condition Reporting courses and is based primarily on BS7671:2008
(Amendment 3: 2015) 17th Edition Wiring
Regulations and IET Guidance Note 3
(2015).

Who is this training course for?
Although this course
has no pre-requisite, it is
recommended that candidates should have
a suitable knowledge of electrical
theory and ideally be working within the
electrical or a related industry. If you
are unsure, please speak to a member of
our Training Team on 01922 612121 who
will be able to advise you accordingly. |

Course Duration:
6 days (4 days training, 2 days
assessments) - Monday to Thursday -
8:30am to 4:30pm. Alternative modes of
attendance may be available. |

Topic Areas Covered:

Understand the requirements for
completing the safe isolation of
electrical circuits and
installations.

Understand the requirements for the
use of test instruments used to
carry out inspection and testing of
electrical installations.

Understand the requirements for
completing the inspection of
electrical installations.

Understand the requirements for
testing before circuits are
energised.
-
Understand the requirements for
testing energised installations.
-
Understand the requirements for the
initial verification, testing and
commissioning of electrical
installations.
-
Understand the requirements for the
completion of electrical
installation certificates and
associated documentation.

Be able to confirm safe systems of
work and the suitability of the
electrical installation for initial
verification.
-
Be able to test electrical
installations prior to them being
placed into service.
-
Be able to complete and report the
outcome of the initial verification
and issue the electrical
installation certificate to the
client.

Be able to commission the electrical
installation.

Understand the requirements for
periodic inspecting and testing of
electrical installations.
-
Understand the requirements for the
completion of electrical
installation condition reports and
associated documentation.

Be able to confirm safe systems of
work and the suitability of the
electrical installation for periodic
inspection and testing.

Be able to carry out testing of
electrical installations.
-
Be able to complete and report the
condition of the electrical
installation certificate to the
client.

Training Methods:
Training will include practical work
performance activities (Practical
Testing) and multi-choice written and
short written response assessments.
Please Note: It is advised (but not
essential) that candidates bring there
own testing equipment for this course.
It is also advised that candidates have
their own copies of:-

IEE 17th Edition Wiring regulations
2011 Amendment 3 (2015) Yellow Book,
-
IET Guidance Notes 3 Inspection and
testing 7th Edition, and
-
IET On-Site Guide.

All other course material will be
supplied. |

Course Achievements:
Successful candidates will receive
fully accredited Level 3 QCF Initial
Verification and Level 3 QCF Periodic
Inspection, Testing and Condition
Reporting of Electrical Installations
certification. |
